Lancaster Castle hosts the annual Jail Break 10km race with registrations and race finish inside the Castle itself!

The route will be rural taking in the Luneside countryside and will be relatively flat so suitable for new runners and pb hunters! But…..this race has a tough final 1/4 mile finish back upto the Castle!

Mainly flat course but with an uphill finish.  The route follows the Quayside before heading out onto the network of paths in an out & back style route. Please click here to see the route 10km route

When is the race in 2018?

The 2018 race is on Sunday 28th October 2018.

Race start time 2pm.

Where is the race start?

The race start is signposted from the Castle and is less than a 5 minute walk.  The finish is inside the Castle itself!

Do you accept entries on the day?

Yes, inside the race HQ. Unless capacity has been reached.

Where can I park?

Parking around the Castle itself is P&D but Lancaster has a number of car parks that are within a 10minute walk. Please follow the carpark link to work out the best carpark for your pre-race preparation.

 

Where can I stay in Lancaster?

Lancaster has a number of hotels and B&B’s in the centre and outskirts of the city. Please contact us for more information with your requirements and we’ll do our best to match you to appropriate accommodation.

 

What is the race route?
The race takes in some scenic Lancaster Lune Valley countryside and route maps can be found on www.lancaster-race-series.co.uk

The courses are fast but is undulating in parts and the majority of the route is traffic free.

 

What are the rules for the event?

This race has been measured and certified permitted under UKA Rules.

 

How far apart are the drinks stations?
The drinks stations will be 2.5 to 3 miles apart and will have cupped water.

 

What else will be available on the course?

A number of marshals and community groups will be on the course providing runners with jelly babies and Vaseline if required!

 

Will there be start zones?
No

 

Will there be mile or km markers?
There will be mile markers, every mile.

 

How old do I need to be to run?

To enter the 10km, you must be 15 or over on race day.

 

Where can I find my race info?

If you live in the UK and entered by post, this race info will be posted out to you explaining the details for race day. If you entered online your information will be sent to the email stated in the online application. Please check your spam as sometimes emails go into this folder instead of standard email inboxes.

Numbers are to be collected on the day of the race.

 

How do I get my race number?

You can collect your number on the day at the race HQ.

I can’t run – What is your refund policy? Can I transfer my number?

Unfortunately, there is a no refund policy and we are now unable to transfer numbers.

What if I am ill, injured or unfit before the race?
We recommend that you do not run if you feel ill, injured or have not trained for this event. If in doubt, consult your doctor.

Can I run in Fancy Dress?
Yes, we welcome runners in fancy dress. Please take care with your choice of fancy dress as roads and cycleways are NOT closed to the public.

Can I wear an iPod or music player?
It is not recommended. For your own safety you need to be aware of what is around you, and to be able to take instructions from marshals.

 

Is there a baggage store?

Due to Castle regulations please do not leave bags unattended and use the Gazebos provided.

 

Where are the toilets?
There are a number of toilets around the Castle ground but due to the nature of the venue, there are no additional change facilities.

 

What food and drink will be available?

There will be food and drink available within the NICE Cafe.

When will the results be available?
Results will be posted online soon after the race on www.lancaster-race-series.co.uk
