Croix Du Nord Historical Re-enactment

Croix Du Nord Historical Re-enactment 5th July 2014 - 6th July 2014

North of the wall, the armies of King Malcolm are gathering for war. Determined to take the lands of Cumbria lost to them in battle with William Rufus, son of the Conqueror, the Scots are readying themselves to once again plunge the North into chaos. Rumours that King William is dying are beginning to spread panic amongst the people, whilst the death of Olaf the Peaceful in Norway brings, once more, the threat of ravens over the horizon. These are dangerous times to live in the North, especially for the new, ruling Norman elite.

Will Roger de Poitou finish his castle at Lancaster and train his garrison in time to repel the triple hammer-blows of a Scottish invasion, Viking attack and local uprising? The year is 1093 and war is coming to the North.

Join Croix du Nord, the local group of Regia Anglorum, as they take you back a thousand years to show you what life was like in the year Lancaster Castle was built. Witness the harsh cruelty of Norman justice, watch our warriors at training and don't miss the opportunity to handle some of the weapons of the period. Have you ever wondered what was eaten in an eleventh century castle? Or what is was like to be an Englishman under Norman rule? Are you brave enough to stand in a shield-wall?
