RAVEL BACK IN TIME at Lancaster Castle this July
Step into the 12th Century with a fully immersive medieval experience at Lancaster Castle. Norman Knights will be invading the magnificent grade 1 listed building and setting up camp on the weekend of Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th July.
Authentic medieval tents will be erected within the castle walls and around the surrounding area, giving local peasants the opportunity to see what life was really like in the times of Robin Hood and Richard the Lionheart!
Organised by local historical re-enactment society, Historia Normmanis, the two day event is aimed to give an insight into how a medieval castle was run, from the poor to the rich. Visitors can wander in and out of true representative campaign tents, discovering life on the battlefield, including the Earl's Pavilion and many others.
Crowds will be entertained by medieval musicians, birds of prey, armoury displays, a shire court delivering medieval justice of the times and a fashion show modelling the entire range of Norman society from the lowest ranks to the highest.
Back your favourite knight at one of 2 pop up arenas in the ultimate Tourney of Champions, and 'Clash of the Knights' tournaments. Plus, hear horrible histories about the Anglo Normans and see Hollywood myths debunked in the Medieval Mythbusters display.
Families can even get involved themselves with have a go Archery and make your own authentic 12th century silver coin and shield and heraldry making for the kids. If that isn't enough you can get your nearest and dearest in the stocks for some light-hearted retribution!
Refreshments will be available throughout the day, with BBQs, a medieval menu at NICE @ the Castle Café, and authentic food stalls for you to take the experience home with you!
At just £5 entry per person and £3 for children, this unique medieval experience against the dramatic backdrop of Lancaster Castle is one not to be missed.
