The tour continues into a corridor from which we enter the Drawing Room on the left. This has been restored and furnished in a style in keeping with the Regency Period.
Paintings in the room include 'Still life with vase of flowers' by Antonio Ponze and 'Piazza Novona, Rome' by Luca Carlevarijs. As well as the stylish furniture you can also see on display the Lord Chancellors ceremonial dress.
Objects within the room
The following objects are located in this room:
Carlton House DeskMade by Gillows of Lancaster in the style of George Hepplewhite.
It is thought that the desk, which dates from 1798 was made for the Earl of Derby at Knowsley Hall.
The design is based on a similar desk made for the Prince of Wales' residence Carlton House. |

Lord ChancellorThis amazing robe was worn by the Lord Chancellor from the early 19th Century as head of the procession from the House of Lords to Westminster Abbey for the procession which marks the start of the Michaelmas Law sittings which is the beginning of the legal year in October.
This gown is made of the finest black silk damask, trimmed with 3 inch wide gold lace and hand made gold ornaments. It has been lent to the Judges' Lodgings by Ede and Ravenscroft, Royal robe-makers of London. |

2 Verre Eglomise MirrorsGenerously donated to the Judges’ Lodgings by the National Art Collections Fund on behalf of George Holt of Bala, Wales.
Dating from c.1700 these 2 fine mirrors with glass frames are in the manner of John Gumley of London.
The bar across the mirror was added because at the period it was made there was a limit to how large mirrors could be made so they used 2 smaller mirrors instead of 1 large. |

Egyptian Style Bookcase/Display StandGenerously donated to the Judges’ Lodgings by the National Art Collections Fund on behalf of George Holt of Bala, Wales.
Dating from 1805 this elegant bookcase is decorated with Egyptian style designs and finials. |

2 Chinese Lacquer CabinetsOriginally part of the Clark collection, donated to the Judges’ Lodgings in 1985.
Brought to Lancaster from China by John Addison, a Lancaster merchant with links to the West and East Indies, in the late 18th century. |
