New stamps issued: Lancastrian and Yorkist kings - 28th February 2008
Lancaster Castle helps publicise the newest issue of commemorative stamps
A new set of six stamps was issued on February 28th 2008 depicting the monarchy from Henry IV through to Richard III. We were very happy that the Royal Mail asked us to be involved in their promotion, after all, these monarchs all held the title Duke of Lancaster (Henry IV was the first Duke to do so in 1399) and all of them owned Lancaster Castle in that right. This held true even during the Wars of the Roses- so even the Yorkists 'belong' here as well!
