The One Show recently visited the castle to record a piece on the Pendle Witches for their popular evening magazine programme. Dividing time equally betwen a visit to Pendle and the Old Cells of Lancaster Castle, the item will recount the events leading up the execution of ten local people for witchcraft in Lancaster in August 1612.
Castle Manager Chris Goodier writes:
"Its always nice when the national media takes an interest in local history, and the story of the Pendle Witches seems to be one that grabs people even today. With the 400th anniversay nearly upon us plans are already being developed to commemorate the events of 1612. In the meantime people can learn a lot about the story by visiting the castle and joining one of our guided tours."
