The Castle Corvette Association - 31st January 2011
Once a vital part of the Royal Navy the 'castle' corvettes which helped win the Batlle of the Atlantic in World War Two are to be commemorated
These ships- all named for English castles- are now no more. To commemorate the vessels and those who fought in them, the Association plans to erect a memorial in the National Arboretum next year.
Lancaster Castle is delighted to be part of this project and the Duchy has allowed a stone from the building to be incorporated within the memorial.
