Private hire

If you have any private hire requirements – whether for a photographic shoot, feature film sequence or documentary footage, seminar, workshop, conference, music concert or courtyard-based performance space – please do not hesitate to contact us.

Filming and Photography

Lancaster Castle is a striking and unique location for photo-shoots, music video, movie, drama and documentary filming. We are unique in offering two distinct environments in the same location – a 20th century prison and a centuries-old Castle.

We are happy to accommodate reconnaissance visits for film location researchers and then to discuss requirements and rates before agreeing a film project contract.

For more details about filming at Lancaster Castle, please call on 01524 237310.

Venue hire

The Castle is a listed building adjacent to a Scheduled Ancient Monument. We are therefore very careful to ensure that every event staged at the Castle is appropriate, will not damage the fabric of the building and will not cause unacceptable noise or nuisance to our neighbours.

We also have to consider our scheduled restoration works and where we are in the programme in terms of allowing safe and secure access to these historic buildings.

If you would like to hire parts of the Castle for a specific use, please fill in the downloadable Enquiry Form below and email it to jwebster@lancastercastle.com. This will enable us to give you a speedy response as to whether or not we will be able to accommodate your event on the proposed dates – and what you need to do to complete your booking.

Corporate Hire

We do not currently have any suitable spaces available to let to businesses wishing to run corporate events at the Castle. This is due to ongoing conservation and maintenance works.

Lancaster University has a conference suite on site which can accommodate up to 60 people. For further information on the hire of this facility, please visit lancasterconferences@lancaster.ac.uk.
